Business Administrator Apprentice – Level 3 Business Admin – Relay Engineering

Portsmouth, Hampshire

£6.50 an hour

Relay is an expanding Electrical and Mechanical Engineering company focused on delivering exceptional service to its clients and customers across the south & south west of England. We employ over 130 staff based in, Portsmouth, Plymouth, Falmouth and Portland offices.



  • Coordinate front-desk activities, including:
    • dealing with incoming and outgoing post;- distributing correspondence to relevant personnel
    • answering incoming telephone calls, redirecting and screening calls, taking phone messages and passing them on
    • meeting and greeting visitors to the office, offering refreshments
    • preparing board room for meetings
    • -ordering, controlling and distributing of stationary and supplies within the office
  • Assisting with contract administration as and when required:
    • creating Job Folders and adding jobs to EVision
    • filing contract documentation
  • Purchasing
    • raising Purchase Orders in EVision, obtaining appropriate authorisation, placing orders with suppliers
    • receipting Purchase Orders in E-Vision as per delivery notes received
  • Clerical tasks
    • providing administrative support for Portsmouth office and other business units as required
    • inputting data and updating various electronic registers/databases as required
    • communicating effectively to both internal and external customers ie. by email or verbally
    • collating weekly paid timesheets for authorisation and submission to Plymouth office
  • Complying with the organisation’s HSEQ policy and procedure requirements at all times
  • Perform other routine clerical tasks as required

Qualifications Required

4 GCSE grades 9-3 (A*-D), which must include English at D; or a full Level 2 qualification at merit grade with English and maths at an appropriate level.
