37.5 hours a week - Monday-Friday 9am-5:30pm
 
We are a local firm of chartered accountants with expertise and specialisms in all issues surrounding tax, accounts preparation, auditing, business advice, corporate finance and wealth management. We are a regulated training provider. Birmingham is the second Finance centre to London.
 
You will be working alongside experienced Accountants, thus giving you the best start possible in your Accountancy career. You will be given the opportunity to attend client visits during your apprenticeship.
 
Job role
  • Entering data on SAGE and other database/CRM systems
  • Bookkeeping
  • Reconciling bank accounts
  • Assisting with basic payroll preparation for clients
  • Supporting the marketing and accounts department with ad-hoc administrative duties
  • Ad-hoc administrative projects
  • Answering phone calls from clients
  • Filling, photocopying and scanning and mailing documents
  • In time, supporting client’s at their offices with their accounting needs
Skills

  • Learning to drive or passed driving test (not essential but preferred)
  • Evidence of previous employment. (this could be a part time or even a Saturday job)

Qualifications
  • A*-C/9-4/Functional Skills Level 2 in Maths and English.
  • If you hold a Level 2 AAT Certificate in Accounting, or who hold an A Level in Accounting Grade A*-C you can move straight onto the Level 3.
Course details
 
The apprenticeship will need you to attend our college in Birmingham on a Thursday or Friday for a full college day which you need to be able to commit to.
Apprentices will be assessed by the following:
  • Knowledge and skills test
  • A portfolio and discussion showing evidence of knowledge, skills and behaviours while within the workplace had met required standards.
  • Standard AAT exams
Future prospects
 
The candidate will have the opportunity to progress to a full time permanent position with Patara as a Trainee Accountant following completion of the apprenticeship.
