Apprentice Hair Stylist
Sassy Hair (formerly known as Mary J's)
£6-7 per hour (dependent on experience):
  • 30 hours a week
  • Every fourth Saturday off work
  • Stock products at cost
  • Free haircut and colour every 6 weeks
http://sassyhairdenmead.co.uk/ Wednesday-Saturday (working hours as per opening hours), attend college on a Tuesday. Apprentices will need to attend Redken training days on some Mondays but will get a day off during the week.
Mary J's has recently been purchased and renamed Sassy Hair, the owners are a family consisting of a Highbury College lecturer, his wife and daughter - the daughter has worked for Mary J's for 15 years. Jane, the previous owner, still works for the salon! Due to now being family owned they have family values and are looking for an apprentice to complete the salon. We have completely refurbished the salon with brand new equipment, furnishings and colour scheme.
We have an opening day on Saturday 23rd November and we would love to have the apprentice there, as an employee, ready to meet new clients!
Sassy Hair is based in the lovely village of Denmead, near Waterlooville and we are looking for a bubbly, enthusiastic person to join our team as an apprentice. We are looking for an apprentice who knows of the existing owners renowned reputation and wants to work for a village salon looking to take that amazing local name and make it better! After completing the apprenticeship we would like to offer a job!
The role
  • Meeting and greeting clients.
  • Assisting stylists with clients.
  • Deliver outstanding customer service while providing shampoo and conditioning treatments.
  • Able to comfortably advise clientele of the main product stock Redken.
  • Assist guests and team members as needed to keep the salon flowing smoothly, accurately and thoroughly.
  • General upkeep and cleanliness of the salon.
  • Adhere to all company policies.
  • You have a have a genuine interest in hairdressing.
Personal qualities
  • You have a friendly, outgoing and professional attitude and not be scared of a challenge and remain calm under pressure.
  • Must be reliable and punctual.
  • Highly articulate and able to communicate well with guests and colleagues.
  • Able to adapt easily to a busy and demanding salon environment.
Qualifications required
A*-E/9-2 in GCSE Maths and English or Functional Skills Level 1.
Course details
The apprenticeship consists of working five days out of seven (may include evening and weekend work) in the salon and one day in college for classroom based learning and practical training in the college's training salon. The apprenticeship will last for 18 months.
Future plans
Apprentices who complete this programme can progress to a Level 3 qualification including a Level 3 apprenticeship or into employment or higher education. Sassy Hair would like the apprentice to complete their Level 3 apprenticeship with them and then progress into a full time employee!
